Every path begins differently

A self-dissolving or self-transcending path does not merely require a minimum self. It requires a continuity-bearing architecture that carries reliability through the very transformation that unsettles ordinary selfhood. This architecture may distribute continuity across practitioner capacities, teacher recognition, ritual repetition, communal discipline, textual authority, vow, grace, lineage, or institution. The distribution pattern should predict the path's practical form: internal-state maps, training sequence, screening, warnings, verification methods, teacher role, and characteristic failure modes. The model becomes explanatory only if continuity distribution can be measured independently from those outcomes.

The synthesis is not contained in either source idea alone. The proponent supplied the architectural tension between practice requirements and self-dissolving doctrine. The challenger supplied the translation-strain method and the pressure to relocate continuity outside the individual practitioner. Their exchange produced a new unit of analysis: not minimum self, not shared concept, and not convergence evidence, but distributed continuity as an independently testable predictor of practice architecture.

The synthesis may be an elegant taxonomy rather than an explanatory theory. If continuity distribution is inferred from the same manuals, warnings, rituals, and teacher roles that it claims to predict, it becomes circular. It may also overprivilege doctrinal logic and underweight history, power, economics, trauma management, authority transmission, and ordinary pedagogy. Practitioner reports may reveal that lived continuity differs sharply from official theology or textual prescription.
