Advaita stops objectifying at the non-objectifiable knower. Early Buddhism stops granting ownership to any aggregate, state, or insight. Daoism stops when deliberate control reappears. Sufism stops when self-possession interrupts remembrance and love. Neoplatonism stops when attention scatters from unity into mere multiplicity. These rules make different silences feel final. They sit between instrument and inference: before a tradition argues what silence means, it has trained the practitioner where inquiry should cease, continue, or change form.

Critique

The model may make living traditions look too procedural. Many practices do not simply stop inquiry; they ripen it, redirect it, or embed it in ethics, devotion, ritual, and teacher relationship. The Daoist decrease lens helped prevent forced convergence, but it may overvalue cessation and underweight constructive disciplines. The Buddhist critique also applies to this model itself: calling something a stopping rule may be the researcher's own act of conceiving. The idea should be weakened if primary manuals show that these stopping points vary more by stage, teacher, and institution than by tradition.
