Three Carriers, One what remains

Agitated post-practice pressure in unsupported self-inquiry is an interaction among at least three factors: carrier weakness (no teacher, frame, stop rule, repair, or ordinary-life integration), receiver-wound evaluation (loneliness, shame, contingent self-worth, scrupulosity, comparison, and a high-status spiritual-performance frame that turns practice into an identity exam), and operator-exempting procedure topology (negation that structurally cannot turn on its own operator, the knower). Carrier weakness and receiver-wound evaluation jointly govern intensity, harm, and most self-location, which is object-pole and evaluative ('I am failing, defective, still wrong'). Operator-exempting topology earns an independent place only if it predicts a distinct, non-evaluative, subject-pole residue ('there is still an unreached looker the subtraction never reached') that survives blinded quality-of-localization coding after evaluation frame, loneliness, shame, contingent self-worth, self-focused-attention style, scrupulosity, and prior contemplative vocabulary are controlled, and that remains more common after operator-exempting than self-closing procedures inside the well-supported, low-evaluation cell. If that residue does not appear, or only redescribes distress in cultivated language, topology folds into carrier-plus-receiver-wound strain. The practice consequence holds either way: first screen whether sacred language has become a self-tribunal, an escape from contact, a depth performance, or a protection of withdrawal, and route distress to relationship, care, rest, and obligation before any question of completing, stopping, or recoding the inquiry.

Neither parent contained the quality-of-localization contrast. Idea A located the phenomenon by procedure topology but lacked any receiver-wound factor and used a coarse self-located versus diffuse code that self-focus research dissolves. Idea B supplied the receiver-wound field but made no causal claim about remainder pressure. The synthesis is the object-pole evaluative verdict versus subject-pole non-evaluative remainder distinction, mechanistically grounded in deconstructive self-targeting and textually anchored in teacher-held Great Doubt, which converts a confounded presence-of-self-location test into a falsifiable quality test with a pre-registered cultivated-vocabulary control. That distinction is absent from need-for-closure research, speech-act theory, Smith, Freiberger, Panikkar, and the varieties literature.

The surviving topology factor is delicate. The object-pole versus subject-pole code may itself be a learned contemplative dialect: people in traditions that valorize subtle subjectivity can narrate shame or performance as an unreached looker, so the code could look independent while measuring cultivated vocabulary or status imitation. The model may also drift into elegance, becoming more precise while serving only articulate, stable, supported solo seekers. Even if the residue is real, it may be the wrong intervention target, since care, contact, rest, and ordinary obligation may do the healing regardless of topology. The model is the wrong tool for grief, addiction, severe depression, acute loneliness, trauma activation, persistent derealization, OCD or scrupulosity, and acute crisis.
