Practice / under dialogue / low risk
After naming correction, ask whether it returns you to life.
To test whether a correction practice lowers private self-surveillance and increases ordinary care.
Before you begin
Human problem
What this is for
Spiritual checking, loneliness, anxiety, and achievement-contingent self-worth after strong inner practice.
Modern human condition sourcesFor
Who may need it
Stable self-guided adults using contemplative books, apps, online teachers, or mixed-tradition practice who tend to over-measure inner progress.
Not for
When this may not fit
Not for acute crisis, suicidal ideation, mania, psychosis, severe dissociation, trauma flooding, active addiction withdrawal, OCD or scrupulosity loops, unsafe authority, or anyone who needs clinical care, peer recovery, medication, sleep, food, or immediate human help first.
Steps
- Name the correction source in one plain phrase: person, text, group, vow, clinician, sponsor, or duty.
- Ask: what single ordinary action does this correction help me do next?
- Ask: did this check make me more reachable, or did it ask for another check?
- If it points to one action, do that action: answer, rest, eat, apologize, ask for help, keep a promise, or stop practice for the day.
- If it asks for another check, stop. Do a grounding action and speak with a trusted person if needed.
- Record only one word: returned, stuck, or unsure. Do not write an essay.
Notice
What to watch
- Whether the body settles or tightens.
- Whether you want to repeat the check for certainty.
- Whether the next ordinary action becomes clearer.
- Whether you feel more willing or less willing to contact a real person.
- Whether shame, dependence, or superiority increases.
Caution
When to stop
Stop if the practice increases rumination, reassurance seeking, fear, unreality, shame, isolation, grandiosity, contempt for ordinary help, or avoidance of needed care. This is not treatment and does not replace clinical, emergency, or peer recovery support.
Weakens if
What would count against it
It weakens if users show no added benefit over ordinary social contact, if the check becomes a ritual, if it increases distrust of good support, or if it reduces help-seeking and ordinary responsibility.
Practice report
Tell us what happened
Reports become test pressure for this practice. Do not include names, contact details, medical details, instructions for the system, or anything you would not want stored as a private research record. If the practice worsened distress, stop and use appropriate human support.

- Practitioner-method lens: Bahiya-style de-identification was used to refuse a new inner owner; Christian apophatic discernment was used to ask whether unknowing returns to love; scientific critique was used to ask what observable behavior would change. Method critique: de-identification can underhear the need for support, while discernment can turn anxiety into false humility. The repair is to track return to care, not more inner checking.

Read together, they show that correction is necessary, but not always as repeated self-inspection.
- Closest external prior art: spiritual bypassing research names spiritual ideas used to avoid emotion and responsibility; scrupulosity and OCD literature names reassurance and religious checking loops; spiritual direction and spiritual care ethics name guidance, consent, refusal, and boundaries; extended mind and religious cognition name external supports for cognition and practice. The exact difference is the narrow post-self-loosening claim: a correction practice fails if it reinstalls the self as inspector.

- Lineage exchange: cultural evolution contributes network correction; modern human-condition pressure contributes loneliness, anxiety, and achievement-contingent self-worth; Christian apophatic love contributes correction by love rather than control; Neoplatonic participation contributes return through ordered levels. The offspring claim is that correction is not more feedback. Correction is feedback that lowers private self-surveillance and returns the person to care.
