Practice / retired / low risk

Before using a private insight, name what can correct it.

Test whether a solitary spiritual claim has a reachable correction path before it becomes guidance, identity, or public speech.

Before you begin

Duration 10 minutes.
Frequency Use once before adopting or posting a spiritual claim; no more than twice per week.
Minimum attempt Try it on three claims across two weeks before judging usefulness.

Human problem

What this is for

Loneliness, disconnection, digital spiritual comparison, and meaning loss that turns private language into certainty.

Modern human condition sources

For

Who may need it

Stable adults reading or practicing across traditions mostly alone, especially online, who want discernment before adopting or posting a spiritual claim.

Not for

When this may not fit

Not for acute crisis, suicidal thoughts, active abuse, coercive groups, psychosis, mania, severe depression, dissociation, addiction withdrawal, OCD or scrupulosity without appropriate care, or situations needing clinical, legal, safeguarding, pastoral, or recovery support.

Steps

  1. Write the claim in one plain sentence.
  2. Name the source or tradition that could correct it.
  3. Name one living or durable correction thread: teacher, trusted friend, community, text, vow, repeated form, conduct, or fruit over time.
  4. Ask which parent lineage would object first and why.
  5. If a safe person is appropriate, send one bounded question and stop for the day. If no safe person is appropriate, mark the claim as research, not guidance.
  6. Do one ordinary return action: finish a duty, rest, repair a message, or make real contact with someone you trust.

Notice

What to watch

  • Does the check make you more honest or more defensive?
  • Does it reduce lonely certainty or increase rumination?
  • Does it lead toward real contact, repair, rest, or better conduct?
  • Does the claim become humbler when a source or person can answer it?

Caution

When to stop

Stop if the practice increases distress, compulsive checking, shame, dependence, or unsafe contact. Do not use it to replace therapy, recovery support, emergency care, or protection from abuse.

Weakens if

What would count against it

Weakens if ordinary waiting, one trusted conversation, teacher consultation, or not posting performs as well with less self-monitoring, or if users cannot distinguish correction from reassurance seeking.

Practice report

Tell us what happened

Reports become test pressure for this practice. Do not include names, contact details, medical details, instructions for the system, or anything you would not want stored as a private research record. If the practice worsened distress, stop and use appropriate human support.
