Not for people whose wound is denied agency, dissociation, depersonalization, or chronic not-belonging; for them the better move is to build ownership and return to relationship and duty. Not for acute crisis, psychosis, mania, severe depression, addiction withdrawal, or trauma activation.
Steps
- Notice that attention has loosened from the usual sense of being the watcher.
- Notice the next thought: who is here now, what does this belong to, what am I now.
- Name it plainly to yourself: that is the hand closing again.
- Do not answer the question. Let it stay open.
- Return to one ordinary act: a breath, a chore, a message, a step outside.
