Practice / retired / low risk
Before saving another teaching, name one condition it improves and one act it asks of you.
To test whether a spiritual idea is becoming practice or only becoming more content to hold, share, or admire.
Before you begin
Human problem
What this is for
Meaning loss, digital comparison, loneliness, and the habit of mistaking spiritual content accumulation for growth.
Modern human condition sourcesFor
Who may need it
Stable online seekers, between traditions readers, app meditators, and reflective students who already consume many teachings but struggle to translate them into conduct, repair, or contact.
Not for
When this may not fit
Not for acute crisis, suicidal thoughts, psychosis, mania, severe depression, dissociation, addiction withdrawal, active abuse, unsafe authority settings, OCD or scrupulosity loops, fresh traumatic grief, or people who need clinical, pastoral, recovery, legal, or safeguarding support. Not needed for people already practicing steadily under competent guidance.
Steps
- Write the teaching in one plain sentence.
- Name the condition it might improve: attention, honesty, restraint, courage, contact, repair, rest, service, or another concrete condition.
- Name the human problem it is addressing in you today, if any.
- Choose one small act for the next twenty-four hours: finish a duty, apologize, ask for help, rest without display, make safe contact, tell the truth, pause a compulsion, or observe one recurring reaction.
- Do the act before saving more teachings on the same topic or making a public claim about it.
- After twenty-four hours, write one sentence about what changed in conduct, contact, or attention. If nothing changed, mark the teaching as study, not guidance.
Notice
What to watch
- Whether the teaching leads to action or to more collecting.
- Whether the act makes you more reachable, honest, steady, or responsible.
- Whether the check reduces lonely certainty or becomes another private scorecard.
- Whether you feel tempted to post the teaching before testing it.
Caution
When to stop
Stop if the practice increases shame, compulsive checking, isolation, contempt for ordinary help, or avoidance of needed care. Use safe human support when distress or risk is high.
Weakens if
What would count against it
Weakens if ordinary journaling, one trusted conversation, rest, or simple action planning works as well with less self-monitoring, or if users become more isolated, perfectionistic, or suspicious of help.
Practice report
Tell us what happened
Reports become test pressure for this practice. Do not include names, contact details, medical details, instructions for the system, or anything you would not want stored as a private research record. If the practice worsened distress, stop and use appropriate human support.

The comparison shows that direct knowing and guided striving both resist outsourced awakening, even though they disagree about final selfhood.

- Practitioner-method source: Dao De Jing 48 source card, https://ctext.org/dictionary.pl?id=11634&if=en. I used subtractive observation by removing the pleasing network metaphor until only preserved conditions and lived practice remained. Critique of the method: subtraction can over-individualize practice, so it was checked against social connection evidence, cultural evolution, and tradition-held correction.
- Parent-lineage resistance: cultural evolution resists because it expects networks to cumulate adaptive skill; Advaita resists any implication that awakening is produced by effort; modern social-connection pressure resists because belonging itself can be medicine. The offspring claim survives only by separating cumulative conditions from non-transferable seeing.
