A spiritual claim should not be moved into a new life until its carrier is named: practice instruction, relation, ontology, conduct test, authority, or negation.

The Teaching

Many wise sentences break when removed from the life that made them true. A teaching may ask for trust in God, discipline of attention, surrender of ownership, loyalty to a teacher, service to a community, or release of a false self. These are not the same demand. Before taking a teaching into your life, ask what it is asking you to become responsible to.
