The Teaching

A sentence can feel true because it is familiar, beautiful, or shared by people we admire. Ask where it came from, what discipline formed it, who could correct it, and what it asks of your next action.

If the sentence only gives you a stronger identity, hold it lightly. If it helps you repair, serve, wait, tell the truth, or stop harming yourself or others, it has begun to carry weight.
