The Teaching
A network of teachers and friends can hand you a beautiful idea faster than anyone can check it. That speed feels like wisdom. It is mostly variety.
There is a real test, and it is not expensive: over a few weeks, does this insight make you less reactive, less grasping, less harmful to the people near you. But notice who is holding that test. If the only judges are a teacher you admire, a group you belong to, and your own relief, then the test rewards the idea instead of trying it.
Let at least one judge be someone who gains nothing if you are right: a plain friend, a person you have wronged, a record of how you actually behaved, a stranger from another path. If the change is real, it will show where flattery cannot reach.

For stable community seekers, the Outside Witness Check will reduce overclaim and identity-display while increasing concrete conduct change confirmed by a non-gaining witness, without increasing shame or isolation. If it mainly produces contempt for the community, compulsive self-suspicion, or no difference from one honest conversation, the practice is weakened.

- Primary-text comparison: Kalama Sutta, Anguttara Nikaya 3.65 (SuttaCentral), where the Buddha tells the Kalamas not to accept a teaching by tradition, lineage, scripture, logic, inference, or because a teacher is respected, but to test whether the qualities, when taken up, lead to harm or to welfare.
