A practice has not earned trust because it produced a powerful state or because its own language says the state is final. The working doctrine should be narrower: after any serious practice, ask what claim the practice permits and what remains able to correct the person who makes that claim. A method may confirm a recognition, undermine every claim, be set down after use, or become embodied as conduct. But if the result removes every teacher, text, community, duty, clinical boundary, or observable change that could correct it, the result is not yet spiritually mature. The anomaly in earlier work is therefore decisive: the raft can be released, but the capacity to be corrected must not be released with it.
