When this may not fit

Not for acute crisis, suicidal thoughts, psychosis, mania, severe depression, dissociation, derealization, addiction withdrawal, trauma activation, OCD or scrupulosity, unsafe teachers, or anyone whose primary wound is loneliness, since this check does not supply connection. People who are lonely or unneeded should be routed to real contact, not to a naming exercise.

Steps

  1. Write the name you want to give it in one plain sentence: no one, a witness, God, a clear ground, or nowhere.
  2. Write one concrete thing the name would change in the next 24 hours: a repair, a message, a rest, a duty, an apology, or a contact.
  3. Ask whether ordinary rest, a friend, or a kept promise would change the same thing without the name.
  4. If the name adds nothing the ordinary act would not, mark it as study, not guidance, and do the ordinary act.
  5. Stop. Do not keep refining the name.

  • Whether holding the label loosely makes you more reachable and more honest, not less.
