Practice / under dialogue / low risk

Before answering, name where the question will land.

To prevent a quiet or self-loosening state from becoming another private test of worth, attainment, or spiritual correctness.

Before you begin

Duration 6 minutes
Frequency Only after a practice session or quiet state that triggers the question 'what remains?' or 'am I egoless enough?', no more than twice per week.
Minimum attempt Try after three eligible moments across two weeks, unless it increases distress, unreality, shame, or checking.

Human problem

What this is for

Post-practice self-grading, rumination, isolation, and achievement-contingent self-worth after calm, empty, or self-loosening states.

Modern human condition sources

For

Who may need it

Stable adults or older teens with ordinary support who are prone to spiritual over-checking but are not in acute distress.

Not for

When this may not fit

Not for psychosis, mania, persistent dissociation or derealization, severe depression, addiction withdrawal, acute grief, OCD or scrupulosity loops, unsafe authority situations, or cases needing moral repair, therapy, medication, emergency care, or direct teacher guidance.

Steps

  1. Write or say the question exactly in one sentence.
  2. Name its function: inquiry, medicine, comfort seeking, verdict seeking, avoidance, or unknown.
  3. Name what holds it: teacher, text, vow, community, clinician, trusted person, ordinary duty, or none.
  4. Name the after-use: one act of care, repair, contact, rest, or responsibility you will do within thirty minutes.
  5. If function, holder, and after-use are clear and safe, continue only within that container.
  6. If any of the three are unclear, make no verdict for twenty-four hours and do one ordinary act of care.

Notice

What to watch

  • Whether the urge to answer softens when the question has no clear holder.
  • Whether ordinary care becomes easier or harder afterward.
  • Whether the check becomes a new ritual for measuring yourself.
  • Whether you feel more connected, more responsible, and more able to act.

Caution

When to stop

Stop if the practice increases panic, unreality, compulsive checking, shame, despair, avoidance, or fear of your own mind. Seek human support or clinical care when distress is frightening, persistent, or impairing.

Weakens if

What would count against it

Weakens if ordinary rest, conversation, or teacher contact works as well; if naming the landing place does not reduce self-grading; or if the check becomes another form of self-monitoring.
