Practice / under dialogue / low risk

After practice, ask whether the next question belongs there.

To test whether naming the function of a post-practice question reduces anxious self-audit and returns attention to care, correction, or ordinary action.

Before you begin

Duration Seven minutes after a practice session or focused work period.
Frequency Three times weekly for two weeks.
Minimum attempt Five completed checks before judging usefulness.

Human problem

What this is for

Achievement-contingent self-worth, burnout risk, anxious self-monitoring, and compulsive checking after spiritual or self-improvement practice.

Modern human condition sources

For

Who may need it

Stable adults who already practice meditation, prayer, reflection, study, or focused work and often ask whether they did it right, changed enough, detached enough, or proved enough.

Not for

When this may not fit

Not for OCD, scrupulosity, dissociation, severe depression, mania, psychosis, addiction withdrawal, trauma activation, fresh crisis, unsafe authority pressure, or frightening meditation experiences needing human support.

Steps

  1. Write the question that is pulling at you after practice or work.
  2. Mark its source: practice instruction, teacher or community, ordinary responsibility, fear or comparison, or safety concern.
  3. If it belongs to the practice, follow one small instruction. If it belongs to teacher or community, ask or return to form. If it belongs to ordinary responsibility, choose one repair or task. If it belongs to fear or comparison, stop analysis and do one grounding action. If it is a safety concern, seek appropriate human support.
  4. Write one sentence: this practice asks me to do this. Then write one sentence: it does not ask me to do this.
  5. Stop when seven minutes end, even if the question still wants more time.

Notice

What to watch

  • Whether the question makes action clearer or keeps you checking yourself.
  • Whether pride, shame, fear, or comparison is driving the question.
  • Whether the body becomes tighter or steadier after the source is named.
  • Whether the next ordinary action involves care, repair, rest, help, or avoidance.

Caution

When to stop

Stop if the check becomes a ritual, increases panic, derealization, shame, compulsive confession, or avoidance of needed care.

Weakens if

What would count against it

Weakens if two weeks of use increases rumination, reassurance seeking, shame, spiritual pride, avoidance, or detachment from real duties, or if ordinary rest and social contact work as well.
